What about NJ?

Post subject:  Re: 19th Annual DSM/EVO Shootout (2011)

I haven't heard anything about NJ so far. IIRC, they didn't do
as well last year, as the previous year.

There is also Import Showdown in Ga. on May 1st. My buddy there is on
the planning committee and I've promised a few times to come, but I haven't
yet. Well now I have the means, so I plan on being there for Sat and Sunday.
I hope Tom and Kiggly show.

Yea, I'm not surprised NJ didn't work last year -- they didn't advertise it at ALL until a week or two before. Shame, really. It could be a really excellent event!

I meant to post up a while ago, incase anybody really cares. Because I
know of two other individuals in FL that plan to make the trip.
They're both in different parts of the state.

I'm going in style this year and my plans are basically:

Weds - pick up trailer & get everything all loaded up, bed early
(pray U haul doesn't screw me).
Thurs - Early am departure(before 6)
Fri - late morning/early afternoon ETA in Norwalk
- Set up camp(Canopy, grille, car off the trailer, maybe hold
a spot for another DSMer camping out)
- Go into town, get suppiles, lunch, sleep, evening TnT & festivties.

Sun - Evening departure from Norwalk back to FL.

Weird coincidence last time I took my car to the SO,
it rained and there was a hurricane in the Atlantic heading
towards the US(FL).

Fast forward to 2011 and it's deja vu, except with an
earthquake added. Some other personal stuff going on as well,
suffice to say, it's alot of news to come home to.

Ok, so I'm conflicted, I don't want to write a book but it's
hard not to elaborate. I already wrote a long post on NABR that
didn't want to write. Everyday I feel a little bit bit more like myself
again. Because the SO weekend is so much to take in and then
that long drive back home to put it all in perspective. Also, sleep
throughout the weekend is non existent.

I'm still playing catch up on every forum and patiently awaiting
the newest and latest DB post SO rant. I think I'll do a series of post
because on my way home I couldn't get any wi fi.

Copy the post from NABR? ...or will they kick you out of Fight Club for that?

Post subject:  Re: 19th Annual DSM/EVO Shootout (2011)

It'sin the public section, so I don't know about that.

Ok, so what you guys want to know. The car has been running
good I just need some track time. Most of the changes made
where to the suspension. Friday, was such a strange day I
never got to take that nap I wanted. Next thing I know the
weekend went by and I think I slept a total of 12 hours in 4 days.

I only got in 2 runs on friday because the track opened late,
in years past the track was open when I got there in the afternoon.
So I dropped the car off next to English Racing's trailer to visit a
friend in Cleveland. First pass off the trailer with a tune I wasn't
happy with netted a 14.5 @ 108mph. At the 1/8th I was going 83mph,
25mph in the back half :o .Second pass nothing good happened
another 14.xx. I wish I got back to Norwalk earlier and set up earlier to make
one more pass.

Ok, so the car makes power and that was low boost, so now I have
to wait until Sunday to go back to my dual timing map because my
WG spring is too stiff(1.1 bar).

Post subject:  Re: 19th Annual DSM/EVO Shootout (2011)

I wanted to go 110-112mph over the weekend, so I was pretty happy.
I have an idea what it's gonna do with better driving and more boost.

There's so much to do before you leave home for the shootout.
You cross one thing off the list and two more pop up.
It's a headache sometimes until you get to Norwalk and your
attitude changes whit the 4G63 powered machines all over the place.

On Saturday I spent some time with Matt Aruda from NE with the 4G
BMW that goes low 10's. He said he saw my car on Friday and mentioned that
once I got going(after my crap launch) the car was moving real good.
That made my day coming from somebody else, who goes a whole hell
of alot faster than me. It sure felt faster than ever and the speed is much
faster than that ET.

Post subject:  Re: 19th Annual DSM/EVO Shootout (2011)

Skipping around a bit, Sunday first pass off the trailer(no tuning at all over the weekend).
(first practice/dial in)Just went back to my dual map, car launched soft, OK. Bang first,
bang second, the car is moving, go to third and nothing. It just locks me out, grrr.
skip 3rd to 4th and the pass is wasted 14.xx @ 101. I'm going off memory
but the 60, 330 and 1/8 where a .5 faster than Friday. Easily would've have
been my first 13(I don't think enough for high 12, need more boost).
I'm excited to make my next run despite the fact that someone parked in my pit area.

So I make my way back to the lanes ready to go and all of a
sudden I lost all steering control. WTF! I make a quick fix and regain
some control but I am not satisfied. I get back to my pits and quickly
discover that the joint that connects to the steering column has a chunk
missing from it, day over, weekend over.

When I got home I lost steering again so the rack is broken. Getting it
off the trailer was an adventure to say the least.
:(

Post subject:  Re: 19th Annual DSM/EVO Shootout (2011)

So, I was going to compete in one of the bracket classes and
after watching the finals. I realized I bought a car there that could've
dominated the competition. Unfortunately, it's always fucking
raining when I wanted to go to the track. So, I came up there
somewhat unprepared and the rack is just bad luck. Which is
nothing new for me and my car.

It's rained every single day by me since I came home. So, it's
hard to work on it, when I feel like it. Whatever.

Anyways, I got to Norwalk around 9am on Friday. I left around 6AM
Thursday so, 27 hours more or less. The drive wasn't too bad just West
Virginia that really sucked and I stopped for a nap beforehand.

Okay, so more or less I explained how Friday went. After the track I let the
car cool down and I drove it into Norwalk to go hang out with everybody and
to see what was happening. The night was pretty relaxed no craziness,
I ran into a bunch of people I know, too many to name. But it was
great seeing them, afterwards I went back to the track when I had
enough and slept two hours(maybe). I was awakened by the sound of
dragsters warming up at 8am, haha.
