John that's a good attitude to have.

Ricky and Aj, I just read through this thread and I take no sides on this one.
I'm pretty much with Will, all I ask is that the name calling and personal
insults are left out. There's no need for it, it makes everyone involved
look childish. And so far this "debate" has been good in that regard.

Constructive debate is good, it gets your mind working.
It's something here that helps keep the board busy. And
maybe we all can learn something new from it.
With that in mind, bring facts or intelligent theory to back your claim up.
Otherwise please refrain the typical "be quiet you (so & so)" remarks.

So please continue if you guys wish. But heed my warning...

Omar, I understand what you're saying completely. For that reason I edited my previous post.

Well, from what ya'll posted from wikipedia (not the end-all be-all source for info -- i've found much incorrect information, as well as much information simply not there; as with everything on the internet take what you find there with a grain of salt. this being said, back to my preceeding point) it's rather clear that regardless of what name is on the sticker, cars manufactured anywhere post 1995 cannot be DSM's -- per ya'lls posts, the joint venture (which *WAS* Diamond Star Motors, hence the name) was ended in 1995.

Then again, that's merely going by the name of the legal entity which produced the vehicle, but what does that matter, right?

It just goes to show that we should all be driving around 6-bolt, 4G63, Lasers so we can be "Real DSM'ers" and the 1334 without being called liars... now, all we really need right now is for some Brit to step in and call us all Wankers, lol.

I've owned 3x of these 'POS Cars' over the span of 10x years, and I've really liked each of them alot... I honestly don't understand how/why people think of DSM's as breaking down all the time or constantly requiring maintenance, mine have been great.

That's a good point, I think "subconsciously" the people who say that, are
talking about themselves.

If you don't take care of any car it will "break" or give you issues.
And even Will said it when they were working on Aj's car "These motors, despite
the car being a POS never let you down".

Another issue is that people don't take care of these cars and then sell it.
You the buyer get screwed over and curse the day you ever laid eyes on a DSM.
Hence why I will never buy another running 1G ever, I want a shell so I
can start fresh.

Bump, lol.

My login still works! It's been awhile but I'm still here. Still have the Avenger, although she has a new heart. 10.5:1 2.4L EDZ swap from a cloud car. Soon to be Holset powered.

How much boost you plan to run on that 10.5:1 setup?

Do those motors hold up to high boost well when also run with high compression? If so, you could seriously have a power *MONSTER* on your hands!

Yeah, they do. I know Mark Bullett made 486whp with his (10.5:1 pistons and a BorgWarner 366 turbo). The last I heard, he was in the low 11's. He was sure the car was capable of 10's, but blamed the poor times on his driving. This was in winter 2009 in CT, so he ran out of suitable driving weather before he could reach 10's. I can only assume he met his goal in the spring...

How many PSI can you cram into those? 30 or 40psi or even more?

Obviously it's going to depend on the fuel and what not. I'm just not really familiar with what that engine can really take/do.

I have a holset hx40. I purchased it from my friend who had it on his avenger (I actually bought the whole car). He was making north of 400 at 25 psi but he was on stock ecu running an 8 injector setup on pump 93 with the stock 2L.

I plan on using MS and e85 on my 2.4L. Should be interesting. Anyone know any good MS tuners? Lol

But its good to be back!
