some bad news to go along with it.

I've just been made aware that another station in miami is now selling E-85.

Info
Location

Unfortunately, I found out about this too late.
The day they started selling it, They sold it for .85/gal from 8-1.
I would've have gone down there with my 5 gas tanks and filled up  .
Along with the DSM, haha.

And this place ain't no closer than the other station in miami. it's
more south then the other U-gas selling E-85.

Price now is around 3.63/gal ish.

When we'll get some in broward? Beats me...

:dunno:

I'm not so sure about that... there were cars just parked all the way down two streets just sitting there waiting, I had to get creative w/ some backroads to get by.

I work on the other side of the street :)

...if you had gone down to fill up. That price for $.85 was only for an hour and went up *very* quickly. You would've just been parked on the road watching the guy change the price on the sign.

I once showed up to get gas while the guy was changing the sign.
Everybody was scrambling to get gas, because it was going up, I think .08$
that day. After I was done, the price changed right in front of me.

Dunno about E85, but I see regular gas hitting ~$5/gal by year end.

Try before the end of the summer.

Gas jumped $11 yesterday to $139/barrel. I don't know what the fuck happened, as it had been declining all week.

I don't think it's any question that gas will reach 5$/gal before 2009.

Or at the very least California, Hawaii and Florida will be at 5$.

Ok, I fucked up.

I posted the wrong address in my original post, it's fixed now.

This "new" station is alot closer to Broward and me in particular.

The "new" one now is on hallandale beach Blvd.

The Hialeah gardens station open only a month and a half ago.
There is also another station in "South" miami. That's going to be serving it
as well, if it isn't already. Farther south than the original E-85 station.

All of this is happening fast...

I heard buzz that the u-gas on Wiles & University has (or will be getting shortly) E-85. I have not yet driven by and personally confirmed this though [I never remember when I'm in the area].

Thanks for the info Will, I travel alot in my job.
So maybe if I'm the area I'll confirm it.

With the hallandale station, I went there and made sure it was coming
and asked when.

I figured Paul might be able to help with the legwork on that one too as he lives right down the street. *nudge* *nudge*

Wiles and University... that's on the way to my new favorite cigar shop... I'll check it out next time I go. It would be pretty cool if the rumor is true.

I just leave a small finger bowl filled with water and a piece of sponge in there now... it stays exactly at 73% humidity. The humidifying element that came with the thing sucks.

I haven't had a reason to drive by Wiles and University yet, but I'll try to make a point of it soon.

You're going to need Link to properly compensate for E85.

I am getting link but just so you know, Jeff from dsmchips.com burns chip already compensated for E85. His dual image chips have been around for a while.

You should be able to easily tune 1000's to work with E85 on an SAFC as well. You'd just be stuck with E85 and wouldn't be able to go back to regular fuel with the 1000's in.

Keydiver (Jeff O.) is a good guy. Neat to talk to in person as well.

I have to say that DSMLink or another "full-featured" sort of EMS would be best though.

From a guy off the Link forums.
It's not hard anodized, which is what most folks prefer. But it still came out nice, IMO.

I also had him tap in some AN fittings for me. This is a favor he's doing for
the DSM community.

Anodizing is unnecessary. Methanol is the real aluminum eater; not ethanol.

So you think my fuel rail would be ok? I only drive my car once or twice a week.

What about a fuel cell? would it harm that?

As far as I know, I can't find any hard evidence(of Long term effects) either way.
Theoretically speaking, the ethanol is corrosive when in contact with aluminum.
But it is mixed gasoline which "dilutes" the "corrosiveness".
Now one thing most folks I've seen talk about and agree on.
Is the 1g tank will probably rot from the inside out. Which come from the
water absorption of ethanol, combined with the increased electrical conductivity
of the fuel. Everything else, lines, rails, O-rings,
nobody can seem to agree on.

Me personally, I found some oxidation on my stock rail after switching to ethanol.
But who's to say that came from the ethanol? But it wasn't there before
that much I do KNOW. And I've also had a few cheap rubber o-rings leak
on me(ethanol leakage is not cool) and it ruined my valve cover.
So I had to make sure I went and found "fuel/gas" specific o-rings.
This is why I went to AN fittings on the rail itself, no more AN adapter.

I did my rail for the purpose of longevity and I will eventually remove my stock steel tank.
One thing to keep in mind is gasoline is "supposed" to be corrosive as well.
Auto manufactures have continued to improve fuel systems from this.

Conduct some research so you can better understand it.
So it's up to you Dan to make your own mind up. I want to say, for the
time being you should be ok, either way.
